Area activities

Moulin du Pont is a special place in rural France that allows you to get away from the hustle and bustle. The house is surrounded by farmland and rolling hills. In this beautiful corner of Dordogne, you can explore the surrounding villages, castles and farmers' markets, savor the best of local wine, cognac and cheese producers, or simply relax with a book by the river.

The Dordogne is famous for its gastronomy, especially its Black Truffles, foie gras, Bergerac wines, chestnuts, walnuts and wild mushrooms. The local Périgueux sauce which is used in a lot of traditional dishes, is made from a reduction of white wine, carrots, shallots, veal stock and diced truffle.

The village is is located 35km north-west of Périgueux and 33km southeast of AngoulemeBordeaux is 1 hour 40 mins to the South-West.The nearby village of Verteillac has a good range of services including a general store, butchers, bakers, a brocante and a choice of cafes and restaurants. Our Dordogne region is very peaceful and tranquil, which is perfect for relaxing breaks.  There's no shortage of activities in the surrounding area, with castles, ancient monuments, caves, beautiful villages, farmers' markets, art galleries and museums all within easy reach. We provide our guests with a complete list of attractions.

In the surrounding area you will find the following sites:

  • Brantôme - the Venice of the Dordogne. It's home to a Benedictine monastery, boat tours, canoeing, shopping, restaurants and bars - and delicious ice cream.
  • Bourdeilles - another pretty village with a castle, medieval garden and lovely walks.
