Galileo is a beautiful stone cottage, nestled on the top of a hill in an ancient hamlet with commanding views over the Provence countryside in Southern France. This Provence cottage for long term rentals comes with 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom and access to a swimming pool.
Set in over 30 hectares of natural Parkland and accessed by its own country track, this stone cottage for long term rentals in Provence, France, offers a unique experience of French country living. You will arrive and not want to leave.
Avaialable for long term rentals between October to May from €1250 per month + bills. Pets maybe accepted through prior agreement. 12 month rentals maybe possible, although the rental price will be higher.
Long term rentals in Provence France - facilities
Galileo cottage is is set within 30 hectares of private land and has access to a river, water falls and natural wildlife. The cottage provides 80m2 of living space, laid out on one one floor. The cottage is centrally heated for winter rentals.
The open plan living room is very spacious (50m2) and features exposed roof beams and a rustic tiled floor.
- The lounge comes with 2 armchairs and a sofa: There is a Flat screen TV with international channels and a DVD player. There is Wi-Fi, but no fixed line telephone link.
- The kitchen comes with a combi-oven, gas hob, dishwasher, washing machine and a large fridge-freezer.
- Bedroom 1 is located just off the main living room and comes with a Queen-sized double bed (160 x 200cm).
- Bedroom 2 comes with twin beds (90 x 190cm). There is also one cot available.
- The bathroom has a shower cubicle, wash basin and WC.
Outside:
- Access to a swimming pool (10m x 4.5 m). There is a private terrace with stunning views and a Gas burner BBQ.
- There is a 70m2 private terrace that overlooks the Northern valley. There is a patio table and chairs for 4 people.
- Access to children's play area, including swings & outside toys.
- The cottage has a separate parking area. Please note that the track up to the cottage is rough and not suitable for sports cars or Campervans (a 4x4 or SUV type vehicle is ideal).

Galileo cottage in Provence France is available for long term rentals between October to May. During the summer, the cottage is normally reserved for weekly rentals (although a 12 month rental period may be possible through a negotiation on the rental rate). In addition to the rent, there is a monthly provision of €350 towards the electricity, water, Wi-Fi and heating. Minimum stay is 3 months.

Area activities
Tucked away on a small hillside, the cottage is located within the little hamlet of La Colle. The hamlet was constructed several hundred years ago and completely built of natural stone. Within five minutes walk in any direction you are presented with all the delights of rural Provence - by the splendor of nature, prairie, forest, lavender fields, forests, water falls, open prairies and amazing wildlife.
This area has been visited by World renowned Artists like Cezanne, Matisse, Seurat, Picasso and Bonnard. There are hundreds of little villages and small towns in Provence waiting to be discovered. Here is a small selection of some of the sights worth a visit:
The hilltop towns of Gordes and Roussillon are 1 hours drive to the West. Further on, you will find the stunning city of Avignon - formerly the home of the Vatican for 70 years. Here you can also discover the hilltop fort at les Baux de Provence and the market town of Saint Remy de Provence. - is 1 hour 30 mins.
To the East you have the town of Sisteron, perched on the edge of the river. Nearby, there is the Plateau de Valensole with its spectacular lavender fields. Drive a little further to visit the Gorge du Verdon river and the the lakes of St.Croix and Esparon.
To the South, the historic town of Aix en Provence is one hour away and the city of Marseille is 90 mins. On the Mediterranean coast you will find the stunning seaside towns of Cassis, Carry-le-Rouet and Sausset.
Forcalquier is the principal town serving the area. There are two supermarkets, and a host of small shops, cafes and restaurants. The weekly market in Forcalquier is held on Mondays.
Other transport
There is a TGV train station near Aix-en-Provence and in Avignon.
Airports
The nearest airport is located at Marseille (90 mins). There is a smaller airport at Avignon, with some seasonal low cost flights to the UK and Belgium.
Driving directions
The town of Forcalquier is located close to the A51 dual carriageway, providing fast access down to Aix-en-Provence, the A8 motorway and Marseille.
