Area activities

The House is situated in a quiet, hilltop village called Les Martys, which is surrounded by beech and pine forests in the picturesque wine region of Languedoc and Roussillon. If it’s seclusion and peace and quiet you are after there is no better place than here.

There is an amazing mountain lake 8 mins drive away which is great for swimming. There is a designated swimming area, water slide and wooden climbing apparatus, a beach for sunbathing, picnic tables, a cafe and ice cream kiosk plus a restaurant. It really is a peach and just down the road!

The Mediterranean coast, with the beautiful Narbonne Beach, is approximately a 60 min drive. The Mediterranean coast, with the beautiful Narbonne Beach, is approximately a 60 min drive.

Les Martys is 15km from Mazamaet and 30mk to Carcassonne and Beziers. The area is filled with fortified villages and ancient ruins. Fantastic sights nearby include Minerve, Carcassonne, Aigues Mortes, Beziers, Cap d`agde, Narbonne, Rennes le Château. Spain, Pyrenees, Collioure and many more. The two nearest beaches are Valras Plage and Narbonne plage (25 kms). These have sandy beaches that run for miles. There are great seafood restaurants and ice cream parlours. For children there is the animal reserve at Sigean, organised tree-climbing at Accrobranche, ice skating, canoeing and much more. For foodies there are the great food markets and the famous indoor food market at Narbonne. Fresh fish is plentiful as is the locally grown fruit and vegetables. Vide Greniers (car boot sales) are great for finding antiques or collectables. Golf is nearby and for those looking to relax you can sit by the canal and watch the boats go by. The nearest Cafe Bar is in the Capestang main square at 100 Metres. The nearest restaurant is also located in the main square.

Thank you for an amazing week at your truly beautiful farmhouse in this exquisite part of France. If only we could bag up some of that mountain air, those big skies and the hours of sunshine and bring it all back to London.

We had a wonderful time, thank you very much and really enjoyed being able to stay in your beautiful house. Despite all the stone, my daughter called it the "wooden house" because she was so impressed by how much reclaimed wood you had used - particularly in the bathroom, which she loved. In so far as feedback goes, all we lacked was a hair dryer and an ironing board (but my mother-in-law said the latter was my problem, not yours, because no sane person wants to iron on their holiday - I fear she is right but she didn't see my packing...). I do hope one day we might make a return visit!

First holiday abroad with a three year old, and we just wanted everything to be perfect and stress free, and we certainly weren't disappointed. What a totally stunning place this was. Everything was easy to arrange. Emma was easy to contact, nothing was too much bother. Everything we needed for a family holiday was there.....And it was just such a beautiful setting. There is so much to do locally, we did venture to the lakes to swim, but found that just staying in the garden and beautiful woods suited us just fine, with the odd trip down to the local bar. Can not recommend enough for a relaxing family holiday. Thank you for making our holiday so magical. We hope to be back soon.
