This lovely 3 bed farmhouse for long term rentals is located in a quiet countryside location in Western France, surrounded by 11 acres of land. The house is very well equipped and features a large living room with exposed beams and stone fireplace, a good sized kitchen, 2 bathrooms, a large terrace and plenty of parking.
The property is located close to the ancient fortified town of Parthenay in the Pitou-Charentes region, 1 hour from Poitiers and 1.5 hours to La Rochelle. Secondigny is 4.5 hours South-West of Paris (2.5 hours by TGV train to Niort).
The Owner of the property also has a small stables with a large paddock and field.

The farmhouse is laid out over 2 floors. It comes with a good speed internet connection.
Ground floor
- The large living room contains the lounge, dining area and stone fireplace with wood burning stove.
- The lounge has 3 leather sofas, occasional chairs and a Flat screen TV.
- The dining table can seat 6 people. A set of French windows provide access out onto the terrace.
- The well-equipped kitchen comes with an oven, hob, microwave, a large fridge-freezer, dishwasher and coffee machine. There are plenty of cooking utensils, crockery and cutlery.
First floor
- Bedroom 1 is a large double bedroom with a large chest of drawers and bedside cabinets. There is an en suite bathroom (with shower cubicle, WC and wash basin).
- Bedroom 2 is a twin bedroom and comes with lovely exposed beams.
- Bedroom 3 is also a twin bedroom and comes with bedside tables and a small wardrobe.
- There is a family bathroom with bath, overhead shower, WC and wash basin.
Outside
- The house adjoins the Owner's property but there is a separate entrance, parking and terrace area. The Owners are private people and are keen to respect the privacy of guests and themselves.
- There is a large terrace in front of the house with patio table and chairs, parasols and outdoor furniture.
- There is a large swimming pool with sun terrace. The pool is open from May to September and usage is shared with the Owners.
- Surrounding the house there is 11 acres of land. There is parking for several cars.
- The Owner has her own stables and riding paddock. An additional barn/stable and field could be available for rent to store horses.

The farmhouse can be rented on a monthly basis from October 2023. In addition to the monthly rental price, there is a provision of €350 towards the electricity, water, Wi-Fi and local taxes. Firewood to be purchased separately. Minimum stay is 3 months.

Long term rentals (June to September): from €3500 per month + bills
Long term rentals (12 months): from €1750 per month + bills

If you are looking for a house to rent in France with stables and fields for horses, then this 3 bed farmhouse in Pitou-Charentes could be an excellent option. Inside the house is very comfortable and the surrounding countryside provides plenty of peace and quiet. The local town of Parthenay is a good-sized town with plenty of shops, restaurants and services.

Area activities
The nearest village is Secondigny, which has a population of 1800 people. The town comes with a range of services including a supermarkets, a boulangerie, a couple of restaurants, a bar, a butcher, florist, hairdresser, primary and secondary schools and a medical centre.
Secondigny is situated close to the ancient fortified town of Parthenay, which is a popular tourist attraction with a large weekly market and numerous festivals throughout the year.
The local department, Deux-Sèvres, which borders the departments of Vienne to the east, Charente to the southeast and Charente -Maritime to the southwest. Deux-Sèvres, is well-known throughout France for its clean air, wide open spaces, lush green landscape and numerous lakes, rivers and marshland. The department is especially popular with French holidaymakers and is often referred to as the 'la Venise verte' (Green Venice). The area has one of the lowest unemployment rates in France and as a result, its population has remained stable for the last 250 years (unlike the neighbouring area of the Limousin which has suffered from chronic de-population.
The area has a very mild climate with warm summers (around 25°C/78°F) and below average rainfall throughout the year.
