Le Blaireau is a large 5 bed villa for rent located in the the coastal town of Marseillan in the South of France. The villa is just a short walk to the port where you will find plenty of restaurants, shops and bars. The beach at Marseillan Plage is just a 10 minute cycle ride along the banks of the lagoon.
villa benefits from a large enclosed barbecue area, a sun terrace, a heated swimming pool and parking, as well as a kitchen with 2 refrigerators (one for wine!), a freezer, a microwave, a dishwasher, etc.
The villa is available for long term rentals from October to April from €1500 per month + bills.

The villa is laid out over 2 floors and is located in a quiet neighbourhood, within easy walking distance of the town centre.
Ground floor
- The villa has a large open plan kitchen which comes with an oven, induction hob, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, coffee machine, kettle and toaster. The villa has a full set of plates, cutlery and cooking utensils.
- Next to the kitchen there is a dining area with large dining table which can seat 8-10 people. Patio doors lead out from the dining area to a terrace with patio table and chairs and a retractable awning.
- The comfortable lounge has a corner sofa, armchair and open fireplace. The flat screen TV comes with Netflix and French and English channels.
- Next to the kitchen, the Master bedroom comes with a double bed and an en-suite bathroom. The bathroom has a walk-in shower, wash basin and WC. The bedroom has air conditioning (reversible for heat in the winter months).
- Bedroom 2 comes with an antique Sleigh bed and fitted wardrobes.
- Bedroom 3 is a double bedroom with air conditioning.
- Bedroom 4 is a twin bedroom with fitted wardrobes.
- There is a large family bathroom with full bath, shower cubicle and wash basin.
- There is also a guest WC on this floor.
First floor
- There is a bedroom suite with a lounge and double bed located on the mezzanine level. There is a large TV with plenty of DVDs. The bedroom comes equipped with a Bang Olufsen audio-visual system.
- There is a bathroom with walk-in shower and wash basin.
Outside
- There is a heated swimming pool (8m x 4m) which is normally open from mid-April to October.
- Next to the pool there is a covered terrace with patio table and chairs. There is a further terrace just off the dining room, overlooking the pool, which has a retactable awning
- Surrounding the villa there is a garden with mature trees, lawn and plenty of quiet seating areas
- There is parking for 2 cars.

Marseillan villa for long term rentals South France - Our Opinion
Last visited: December 2025. This villa in the charming coastal town of Marseillan is the perfect place to enjoy some winter sun in the South of France. The Mediterranean beaches at Marseillan Plage are just 5km away and can be reached via a cycle path along the edge of the lagoon. Bezier Airport is just 15 mins away and there is a bus service direct to Marseillan. The TGV train station in the nearby town of Agde is just a short taxi ride and Montpellier is just 40 minutes away by car. The centre of Marseillan with all its cafes, bars, restaurants, port area, weekly market and wine shops is just a a few minutes' walk from the villa.

Area activities
Marseillan is a ‘hidden gem’ on the Mediterranean coast, with a very pretty port and a long sandy beach a few kilometres away. Marseillan is steeped in history and is possibly the oldest village in France. The area was originally settled by the Greeks more than 2500 years ago and was a very active Roman commercial centre. Following the French Revolution, Marseillan founded one of the earliest free public schools in France.
Today, Marseillan is an exceptionally pleasant and attractive harbour town, one of the few remaining unspoilt ports in the South of France. There are about 15-20 places to eat, shops selling everything you need - boulangeries, pharmacies, greengrocers, fish, meat and everyday essentials (all within a short walk). There is a local market in Marseillan twice a week. On Tuesday morning Marseillan hosts a traditional market with food, clothing and housekeeping. On Friday evening Marseillan is taken over by the "marche artinasale" with all kinds of craftwork for sale - painting, clothing, handcrafts. There is a large supermarket on the edge of the town.
A few minutes walk away from the port is a small local park, tennis courts and a new selection of stylish but simple restaurants serving smoked moules, oysters and wine. By the park there is a water sports area where you can paddle board, kayak or learn to wind surf!
Travel a little further afield and you can visit the old port of Sete, historical Pezenas, the fabulous castle at Carcassonne, the old port town of Aigues Mortes, the beautiful town of Uzes and the dynamic Mediterranean city of Montpellier.
Other transport
There is a TGV train station 4kms away in the nearby town of Agde. Regular bus services run in between Agde and Marseillan. You can cycle down to the beach at Marseillan Plage along a cycle path.

Getting to Marseillan is easy by plane as there are 4 airports within driving distance.

- Montpellier (50 mins drive)
- Nimes (60 minutes drive)
- Carcassonne (about 75 mins drive).
UK flights are from Luton, Stansted, Liverpool, Manchester, Bristol, East Midlands, Edinburgh and more (depending on time of year).
