This beautiful one bedroom cottage in a remote area of Provence, is available for long term rent of up to 12 months. The cottage is located in an private and tranquil valley close to the village of Viens. This area of Provence is referred to as the Luberon and is one of the most beautiful areas of France. The local valley is idyllic and teaming with wildlife, including wild boars, 2 types of deer, badgers, eagles, hawks, buzzards, hoopoes and guepiers.
Inside, the cottage is very light and airy and comes with lots of rustic charm. The cottage has central heating and a wood burner, which ensures that it is lovely and warm in the winter. The thick stone walls ensures that the cottage is kept cool during the summer. Outside cottage comes with a sizeable terrace and there is access to a shared swimming pool.
The cottage is available for long term rentals of up to 12 months from €650 per month + bills.

The cottage is laid out on one level and provides 45m2 of living space.
- You enter into the spacious living room. which comes with a sofa, 2 armchairs, coffee table and TV. There is a wood burner which provides a good heat.
- Just off the living room there is a bathroom with shower, wash basin and WC.
- The bedroom, which comes with a King-size double bed, bedside table, a wardrobe and a trunk for bedding. The bedroom provides access to both the living room and the kitchen.
- The kitchen is basic, but functional and comes with a free-standing cooker with hob, a fridge (with small freezer compartment), a kettle and toaster. There are fitted cupboards for storage and the cottage has a set of plates, cutlery, glasses and cooking utensils.
- Next to the kitchen is the dining area, with a round wooden table that can seat 4 people.
Outside
- There is a large terrace with patio table and chairs. Surrounding the terrace there is a cottage garden, with barbecue and mature trees. This is a great space to enjoy the serenity of the valley, only disturbed by the sound of crickets and birdlife.
- Below the terrace there is a long slope down to the Owner's swimming pool.
- At the side of the cottage there is parking as well as a small workshop, which currently houses some tools and a work bench, but which could be adapted to be used as an art studio.

The cottage is available for long term rentals of up to 12 months. In addition to the rent, there is a monthly provision of €175 towards the heating, water, electricity and Wi-Fi. Minimum stay is 3 months. Pets may be accepted through prior agreement.

The cottage is the ideal retreat for a writer, sculpture, painter or artist - with a separate workshop available next to the cottage. The cottage is located is an remote valley which is totally silent and has no light pollution. As a result, the birds and wildlife is a sight to be seen! The cottage comes with a sizeable terrace and clients are able to use the Owner's swimming pool during the summer.
The cottage is located on a small hill, 4-5 metres above the Owner's house. The windows from both properties look in opposite directions (there is no direct vis à vis from either property) and there is separate entrances/parking.
Due to the location, a car is pretty much essential. Although remote, the cottage is not totally cut off from civilisation. The nearest village of Viens (5km) has a popular restaurant and in the town of Césteres (11km) there are 4 restaurants, a supermarket, shops and services.

The rental property is located in the Luberon National Park (an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty). The park is well-known for its wide range of landscapes including forests, garrigue (scrubland), oak woods, vineyards, orchards, and dramatic rock formations such as the red ochre cliffs of the Petit Luberon and the white limestone cliffs of the Grand Luberon.
The hilltop village of Viens is a popular tourist attraction in the summer, with people drawn to experience an authentic Provence village. The village dates back at least 1,050 years and probably to Roman times. There was a fort built on the rocky outcrop in 990 AD and a priory was founded here in the 12th Century. A castle was added in the 16th Century and during the 17th and 18th centuries, the village enjoyed a period of prosperity with many craftsmen, including coppersmiths, blacksmiths and weavers being based in the village. The population increased to over 1,300 people in the early 1700's, but declined throughout the following centuries to just 286 inhabitants in 1962. The population has risen in recent years (624 residents in 2022) and during the summer numbers swell to around 1500 people. The village has a small grocery shop and a popular café-restaurant with large shaded terrace. The surrounding area is popular with artists, writers, crafts people and artisan food producers.
The village of Céreste, is 15 mins by car and here you will find a mini supermarket, a hardware store, 4 restaurants, 2-3 bars, a fabulous bakery, a medical centre (with a Doctor, Dentist, Masseur and Pharmacy), a Petrol station , a Bank and a weekly market every Thursday morning. The nearest large town is Apt, which is 30 mins away. Apt has a population of around 10,000 people and has a range of supermarkets, shops, restaurants and services. The larger cities of Avignon and Aix-en-Provence are both 1 hour 15 mins away.

Driving directions
The small hamlet of L'Argentiere is located 9 mins north of the village of Viens. Aix-en-Provence is 90 mins to the south and Avignon is 90 mins to the west.
