Limoux is a famous wine-making town of 10,500 people located 20 mins south of Carcassonne and 1 hour from the Mediterranean coast. The apartment is located close to the main square in Limoux and is easy walking distance to shops, restaurants, cafes and supermarkets. The train station is 10 mins walk and there is plenty of free street parking.

This large apartment is located on the second floor of an old apartment building and provides 120m2 of living space. There is a communal entrance and staircase (there is no elevator in the building), as well as a shared courtyard garden at the rear of the apartment building.
At the front, the apartment looks down onto the main street and at the rear, there are views over the local hills and the courtyard garden. There are 4 other apartments in the building, mostly rented to international clients.

In addition to the rent, there is a monthly provision of €150 towards the electricity and local taxes. Wi-Fi and water is included within the rent. Minimum stay is 3 months.

The apartment provides convenient town centre accommodation on a quiet residential street in Limoux. Limoux is an ideal location for a long term rental in the South of France. The town has all the services you will need for day to day living and is surrounded by beautiful countryside. This area of France is one of the sunniest parts of France and enjoys mild winters.
The town has excellent transport connections with the train station just a short walk from the apartment. From Limoux you can catch regular train services to Carcassonne, where you can pick up connecting trains to Toulouse, Bordeaux, Marseille, Perpignan, Narbonne and the rest of France and Northern Spain. Carcassonne airport is 20 mins drive and has regular flights all year around to UK, Ireland and Belgium. The A61 motorway is just 15 mins away and connects the Mediterranean coast to the Atlantic.
The small Southern France town of Limoux is known throughout France on account of its production of a famous sparkling wines, Blanquet de Limoux and Cremant de Limoux, which have been produced in the town since 1531. There are some conflicting accounts about whether Blanquet de Limoux was an early copy of Champagne or, as the locals would have it, that the technique for producing the local sparkling wine was 'borrowed' by a visiting Benedictine monk called Dom Pérignon and taken back to Champagne.
Limoux is a pretty town with a river running through it, a beautiful central square with restaurants and cafes and a church which dominates over the town. The surrounding countryside is very pretty, with views over the Corbières hills. The Aude department is one of the sunniest areas of France and experiences below average rainfall and dry air, particularly in the winter.
Limoux has a good range of boulangeries, 2 butchers, several small boutiques, a couple of supermarkets (including the large E.Leclerc supermarket of the edge of town and a BioCoop near the town centre), and various DIY stores, garden centres and florists. The town holds a weekly market every Friday in the central Place de la République and various craft markets throughout the year.
The town holds a famous carnival during the winter months, a tradition which dates back almost 400 years. The carnival (which apparently is one of the longest in the World, lasting for 3 months) attracts thousands of spectators to the town and features over 500 performers and 100 musicians.
Limoux is just 20km south of Carcassonne, with its World famous Castle attracting over 650,000 visitors per year, making it the second most popular historical monument in France, outside of Paris.
The Pyrenees mountains lie to the south of Limoux and on clear days you have fabulous views of the snow-capped peaks. The Mediterranean beaches near to Narbonne are 1 hour away.
There is a train station in Limoux, with regular services to Carcassonne and down to Quillan in the foothills of the Pyrenees.
From Carcassonne, you can catch connecting train services to Bordeaux, Toulouse, Narbonne, Marseille and Perpignan.
Carcassonne airport is just a short drive from Limoux (20 mins) and has flights throughout the year to the UK (Manchester and Luton), Ireland (Cork) and Belgium. The airport offers more destinations in the UK and Europe during the summer months.
