The village of Pinet is located 10 km from the Mediterranean sea and close to the the shores of the Etang du Thau salt water lagoon, where the famous Bouzigues oysters and mussels are grown. The lake is the largest body of water in the Occitanie region of Southern France and is separated by a thin strip of sandbar from the Mediterranean sea.

The Picpoul de Pinet vineyards are famous for their white wines made from the Picpoul grape. The coastal location is perfect for growing crisp white wines, which are delicious when combined with fresh seafood and shellfish. The village of Pinet is surrounded in all directions by acres of vineyards. In the village there are two wine Domaines selling their wines directly to the public (both within walking distance of the villa). Pinet also has a boulangerie, fresh market/coffee shop, a corner store, pizza restaurant, playground, and a weekly fresh market on Tuesdays.

The nearby villages of Florensac and Pomerols are both a short 5 minutes drive and have Spar and SuperU supermarkets respectively, plus garages, restaurants and pizzeria.

Other local places to visit include: 

• The historic town of Pézenas, is only 15 minutes away and has a famous Saturday market. Pezenas can be reached by a public bus service from Pinet.
• Béziers, capital of the Languedoc wine region and the oldest continually inhabited town in France
• Sète, the stunning Mediterranean port town, built around the rocky outcrop of Mont St Clair prominomtary. Sete is home to many festivals throughout the year, including a Dance music festival, World music festival and the not-to-be-missed, Water Jousting festival.
• Montpellier, an ancient university town and medical centre. Montpellier has a beautiful old town centre and in the last few years has become the fastest growing city in France.
• Marseillan, is a harbour town on the Etang du Thau. In the centre of Marseillan, you will find many harbour-side cafes and restaurants, as well as an excellent market for fish and local produce. The sandy beaches at nearby Marseillan Plage, provide the base for a lively Mediterranean beach resort with restaurants, theme parks, watersports, pleasure boat rides and sea fishing trips etc.
