The cottage provides a great option for a long stay in France, especially if you are looking to be based in Dordogne for 12 months or longer. Inside the cottage is very clean and furnished to a good standard and the wood burner ensures that you are kept warm over the winter months. Outside, there is a lovely cottage garden, with plenty of colourful flowers and birdlife. The cottage is just a 2 minute walk into the centre of the village, where you will find a good restaurant. Further restaurants, shops and a supermarket are located in the nearby town of Montignac.
The prices quoted are based on a 6 month rental period (October to May). Higher prices may apply to shorter rental periods and rentals over the summer. Utility costs are payable in addition to the rent.
The village of Fanlac is located in the centre of Dordogne, in an area called the Perigord Noir, renowned for its medieval villages, prehistoric sites and lush green countryside.
The village dates back to the 13th Century, when it was comprised of just 4 houses. Today there are around 150 inhabitants. The central square in the village, features many well-preserved buildings, typical of the Perigord, built from local blond coloured stone with slate roofs. The village was featured in a French film and TV series, 'Jacquou le Croquant' (2007) about the leader of a local peasants' revolt against a corrupt local landowner, the Count de Nansac.
Fanlac is located close to major local sites, such as the Lascaux Caves (an UNESCO World Heritage Site), as well as the amazing gardens at the Château de Losse in the nearby village of Thonac.
Sarlat-la-Canéda, is the capital of the Perigord Noir and comes with cobbled streets, well-preserved medieval architecture, popular markets and many cultural events and festivals throughout the year.
The historic city of Périgueux is the capital of the Dordogne and is just 40 mins away. The town has a good range of shops, restaurants and services.
There is a TGV train station in both Périgueux and Brive-la-Gaillarde. The nearby town of Montignac-Lascaux has local bus services to both Sarlat-La-Canéda and Périgueux.
The village of Fanlac is located in the South-East of dordogne, in between the towns of Périgueux and Brive-la-Gaillarde. The A89 dual carriageway that connects both towns, is 20 mins from Fanlac.
