The local town of Val-d'Oire-et-Gartempe has a range of shops, restaurants and services (including a bank, primary school, pharmacy and medical centre). The house is very handy for the airport at Limoges (50 mins drive) and the city of Poitiers which has direct TGV train services to Paris.
The cottage is available for long term rentals between November to March from €750 per month + bills.

- Just off the kitchen there is a small utility room with a washing machine.

This comfortable 3 bed house in Thiat is the perfect base for a house hunting trip in the Limoges/Poitiers area of central France. The house is well-equipped for a winter stay. It is fully double glazed and there is central heating, as well as a fireplace in the lounge. The nearby town of Val-d'Oire-et-Gartempe has a range of services and restaurants and supermarkets can be found in the local towns of Le Dorat, L'Isle-Jourdain and Montmorillon.
A car will be essential in this location.

Area activities
The small village of Thiat is located in the north of the Haute-Vienne department, close to the border of the Vienne department. The capital of the Haute-Vienne is Limoges, which lies 60km to the south. This lush green area of France is an important agricultural centre, especially for the rearing of the famous Limousin cows.
The surrounding area features many activities to try out including various cycle routes; hiking through the lush forests and hills of the Monts de Blond; canoeing & kayaking on the River Gartempe; Mountain Biking in the St Pardoux Forest, and Climbing on the rocky outcrops of Pierre-Buffière.
The nearby town of Le Dorat (14km) is a popular place with a vibrant ex-Pat community. The town has a good range of facilities including a supermarket, restaurants, cafe bars, a local hospital and medical centre. The central square holds a bustling market every Wednesday and there are a number of events and festivals throughout the year.
The nearby city of Limoges is a pretty place, with a lovely historical centre, a stunning medieval Cathedral and a beautiful art-deco train station (often regarded as the most beautiful train station in France). Limoges was recently voted the 4th best place to live in France and was nominated as the best French city to retire to.

A local train line runs close-by the village of Thiat, with train stations located in Lathus-Saint-Rémy (10 mins) and Le Dorat (15 mins). The train line features services to both Limoges and Poitiers (with connecting TGV services to Paris).

Limoges airport is just 40 mins drive away to the South. There are flights to the following airports:
