This lovely one bed apartment for long term rentals is located in the village of Néré, close to the popular town of St Jean d'Angely in the Charente-Maritime department. This spacious apartment is located on the ground floor and comes with a large open plan living room, conservatory and garden. There is parking.
Charente-Maritime is located in western France, above Dordogne. La Rochelle is the capital city and along the Atlantic coast, you will find the beautiful islands of Îl de Ré and Île d'Orléron. The department is very lush and green and is one of the sunniest areas of France, with an average of 2,400 hours of sunshine annually. St Jean d'Angely is a beautiful town, popular with British, Dutch and German ex-Pats. The town of Cognac, famous for the production of Brandy, is 40 mins away and the old Roman town of Saintes, is 30 mins. La Rochelle is 1 hour and here you can access an airport (with flights to the UK) and a TGV train station (with services to Paris and Bordeaux).
The apartment is available for long term rentals of up to 12 months from €800 euros per month + bills. Pets may be accepted through prior agreement.
Charente-Maritime apartment long term rentals France - facilities
The apartment is located on the ground floor of a large house in the village of Néré, close to St Jean d'Angely. connected to mine by way of a conservatory which will be for the apartment to use. It has just undergone a total refurbishment with new travertine floors and new kitchen. The electrics have been overhauled and where necessary renewed and there is a new tableau.
Ground floor
There is a large open plan living room with two set of French doors, which allow plenty of light to flood into the room
There is a large living/kitchen/dining room with two different aspect French doors onto the surrounding terrace and garden.
The main bedroom is very spacious and comes with a French door to the conservatory.
The conservatory provides access out to the terrace and garden.
The bathroom comes with a walk-in shower and wash basin. There is a separate WC.

and then onto the terrace and garden. The garden will be for the private use of the apartment and will be screened from the main house. The apartment is accessed either through the main electric gates or a private side door in the garden wall from the road. There is an as yet unfinished entrance hall off which is a utility room with the electric tableau, washing machine and chauffe-eau. Heating is by electric radiators and the apartment is all double glazed. The electricity is separately metered and is the responsibility of the tenant. Water and fibre internet are included in the rent. . There is a fridge/freezer, gas (bottled) hob and electric oven, dishwasher, washing machine and microwave and of course, coffee machine (I’ve probably forgotten something….!).
I have two very friendly Rhodesian Ridgeback dogs and would be open to a tenant having a dog as long, of course, as it’s good natured and reasonably well behaved!
The apartment is not quite finished but should be ready for occupation by the end of this month.
I think I already mentioned that it is located on the outskirts of the village just a couple of hundred yards from the plan d’eau (small fishing lake) where there is also a tennis court, table tennis, boules, fitness machines and children’s swings etc set out amongst the trees with a short kid’s zipwire which my grandchildren love. We are surrounded by vines and abundant wildlife. It’s a very pleasant and friendly place to live. There are plenty of ex-pats (dutch/brits etc) in the vicinity if that’s important for a tenant (it isn’t for me so I don’t have much contact). St Jean d’Angély has a super new cinema, lots of small shops, some good restaurants, fabulous market, lots of art clubs and music etc and all free parking. One of the main reasons for choosing this area was that it has the highest number of sunshine hours annually apart from the Med coast. Transport is necessary (car/electric bicycle?). The village is Néré post code 17510.
Did I also mention that there is a boulangerie, butcher, English speaking repair garage, brico, dentist, pharmacy, doctor, beautician, bar/tabac and restaurant soon to be re-opened after refurbishment. Well, I think that’s about it!

This apartment near to St-Jean-d'Angely in Charente-Maritime, provides very comfortable accommodation for a long term stay. The apartment has been fully-renovated and it comes with modern fixtures and fittings. Charente-Maritime is a great spot for a long term rental in France. It is one of the sunniest parts of France and yet benefits from milder temperatures than the South of France. It has 170 km of Atlantic coastline, with beautiful beaches and coves. The regional gastronomy of Charente is envied throughout France, with excellent seafood, fabulous fruit & vegetables and high quality dairy products like butter and cheeses. The local transport connection is very good, with an airport in La Rochelle and fast TGV train services which reach Paris in 2 hours.

The village of Néré is located in the Charente-Maritime department of western France. The village has a population of 750 people and comes with a boulangerie, a butcher, an English speaking repair garage, a dentist, pharmacy, doctor, beautician, a local café-bar/Tabac and a restaurant. The nearest supermarket is in Aulnay - 12km away and has a petrol station, boulangerie, bar, hair dresser, pharmacy.
The nearby town of St-Jean-d'Angély is just 20 mins away and is a very popular destination. Saint-Jean is a very pretty town, with medieval half-timbered houses, a beautiful old clock town, a lovely market square and a stunning old Abbey. The town has a population of around 7,000 people (although it serves a wider population of 20,000 in the surrounding area) and it has a surprising range of shops and services. There is a regional hospital, a couple of supermarkets, dozens of restaurants and cafes, plenty of little boutiques, a couple of Vets, a sports centre and the full range of schools from 4-18 years.
The lovely town of Cognac is 40 mins drive. Cognac is a prosperous town, built on the back of the local Brandy production (with famous names such as Hennesy, Martell, Remy Martin, etc). It is a good sized town of about 20,000 people and sits on the banks of the Charente River.
The old Roman town of Saintes, is 30 mins away. It is a good-sized town of just under 30,000 people. In addition to all the usual services and amenities you get in a town of this size, Saintes also has a very active cultural scene, with several museums, a theatre, cinemas and numerous festivals throughout the year. The Romans left a host of monuments in the town, including an amphitheatre, temples and thermal baths.
The beautiful port city of La Rochelle is 1 hour away. La Rochelle is a university town, and it has a lovely harbour area, dotted with lots of restaurants and cafes. It has a real 'buzz' about the place. It is also a very big Rugby town with the local team Stade Rochelais enjoying a strong revival in recent years. The town holds an annual music festival in the summer, which is one of the biggest in France.
Other transport
There is a train station in St-Jean-d'Angély, with local services to Niort, Royan (on the Atlantic coast) and the lovely old Roman town of Saintes.

Driving directions
The village of Nére is located 20 mins from the A10 motorway which runs down from Paris to Poitiers and Bordeaux.

One month's deposit to be paid at time of reservation. Rent to be paid in advance prior to arrival for rentals of 3 months or less. For rentals in excess of 3 months, the rent is to be paid on the 1st day of each month. In addition to the rent, there is a monthly provision of €200 towards the heating, electricity, water, Wi-Fi and local taxes.
Minimum stay is normally 3 months. Pets may be accepted through prior arrangement. There is a mandatory €200 deep cleaning fee at the end of the rental period.
